Melyssa Aronson, MS (C)CGC
Senior Genetic Counsellor
 Melyssa joined the FGICR in May 1998 after graduating with her Master of Science in Genetic Counselling from Sarah Lawrence College, New York. During her time in New York, Melyssa worked at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre organizing the New York Breast Cancer Study. Prior to that, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo, Ontario. When Melyssa joined Mount Sinai Hospital in 1998, she helped start up the Ontario Familial Colorectal Cancer Registry (OFCCR) which is a population-based provincial colorectal cancer registry. She was promoted to Senior Genetic Counsellor in 1999 for the FGICR and took on active roles in the Genetic Counselling Program at the University of Toronto as a clinical supervisor, co-director of the Cancer Genetics Course for the 2nd year student, and a member of the admission interview panel. Melyssa continues her role in those areas and working with families that have hereditary GI cancer syndromes and associated cancers.
She has a special interest in hereditary gastric cancer and is a founding member of the International Biallelic Mismatch Repair Consortium. She is an American (ABGC) and Canadian (CAGC) Certified Genetic Counsellor.
