Thomas Ward, MS, CGC
Genetic Counsellor
Thomas received a Master of Science degree in Genetic Counselling from Sarah Lawrence College in 2015 and prior to that an Honours Bachelor of Science degree with distinction in Human Biology: Genes, Genetics, and Biotechnology, and Psychology from the University of Toronto in 2013. In 2015 he began working at Norton Healthcare in Louisville, Kentucky, as part of a team to restart their cancer genetics clinic. Thomas joined the Familial Gastrointestinal Cancer Registry (FGICR) at the Zane Cohen Centre for Digestive Diseases, Mount Sinai Hospital in 2018 where he continues to work as a genetic counsellor with families who have hereditary gastrointestinal cancer risk syndromes. In addition, Thomas provides education on how to best care for LGBTQ+ patients to genetic counselling students at Sarah Lawrence College and other graduate training programs. He is also a clinical supervisor for genetic counselling students at the University of Toronto. In 2016 he was certified in Genetic Counselling by the American Board of Genetic Counseling. |
